How to Report, Block and Mute, how chat is kept safe, and what happens when rules are broken. Club NYC is for ages 13 and up.
Club NYC is for ages 13 and up, and a few simple rules keep the city friendly for everyone. This page explains the safety tools. The full rules are on the Community Rules page.
The Rules, Short Version
| Rule | In short | |
|---|---|---|
| Be kind | No bullying, harassment or hate. If someone asks you to leave them alone, do. | |
| Keep it PG-13 | No dating, sexual content, slurs or strong swearing, in chat, names, outfits or notes. | |
| Keep it private | Never share or ask for real names, addresses, schools, socials or passwords, and don’t move chats to other apps. | |
| Play fair | No cheating, bots, exploits or extra accounts. Coins can’t be bought or sold. | |
| Be yourself | Don’t pretend to be Club NYC staff, a moderator or another player. |
Report a Player
See someone breaking the rules? Don’t argue back. Report it.
- Click the player to open their player card.
- Click Report.
- Pick what’s going on: Mean or Bullying, Inappropriate Chat, Inappropriate Name or Outfit, Asking for Personal Info, or Something Else.
- Done. “Thanks! We’ll take a look.” Moderators see your report along with that player’s recent chat.

You can report anyone in the same place as you. If several different players report someone within an hour, that player’s chat is paused automatically until a moderator takes a look.
Block
From a player’s card, click Block, then confirm.
- You won’t see them, their chat or friend requests from them, and they can’t leave notes in your guestbook.
- Blocking also removes them from your friends.
- They aren’t told.
- To undo it, press F, open Friends, and find them under Blocked at the bottom. Click Unblock.
Mute
From a player’s card, click Mute to hide their chat bubbles and emotes. A mute lasts until you reload the game. Click Unmute to hear from them again.
How Chat Is Kept Safe
- Links, email addresses and phone numbers are removed automatically.
- Slurs and strong swearing are blocked, including creative spellings.
- Flooding (lots of messages very fast) pauses your chat for 30 seconds.
- Names go through the same filter, and moderators can reset names that break the rules.
- Chat is kept for 72 hours so moderators can review reports, then deleted.
No filter is perfect. If something slips through, report it and we’ll act on it.
Names and Outfits
The rules cover everything you create: your name, your outfit and your guestbook notes. Names can’t be rude, sexual or hateful, can’t include personal info (like your real full name) and can’t copy staff or other players. If a moderator resets your name, you’ll be asked to pick a new one.
Keep Yourself Safe
- Keep real life off the map. Your name, address, school, phone number, socials and where you’ll be in real life stay private.
- If someone asks for your info, don’t answer. Block them and report them. That’s exactly what those buttons are for.
- Don’t move a chat to another app, and never agree to meet someone from the game in real life.
When Rules Are Broken
Moderators can give:
- A warning: a note about what went wrong.
- A mute: no chatting for a while (for example 1 hour or 24 hours).
- A suspension: no playing for a while (for example 1 or 7 days).
- A permanent ban: the account is closed for good.
How far it goes depends on what happened and whether it happened before. Serious harm (threats, hate, sexual content involving minors, sharing someone’s personal info, or grooming) means an immediate permanent ban. Read the details
Think we got it wrong? You can appeal: the rules page explains how, under Appeals.
