Visitors & Guestbooks
Visit other New Yorkers' apartments, sign their guestbooks and like their places. Open your own door with an Open House.
Apartments are better with visitors. Here’s how to drop by someone else’s place, and how to let people into yours.
Visiting Someone’s Place
- From their player card: click a New Yorker, then Visit Their Place.
- From your friends list: press F, open Friends, and click the home button next to a friend.
Who can come in:
| Whose place | When you can visit |
|---|---|
| A friend’s | Any time, even when they’re offline. |
| Anyone else’s | During their Open House or a public party. Otherwise their door is closed: add them as a friend, or wait for an open house. |
| A city local’s | Any time. They’ll even say hi. |
While you’re visiting, the buttons at the top let you Sign Guestbook, Like their place, or Go Home.
Signing a Guestbook
Click Sign Guestbook and pick a quick note, or write your own (up to 120 characters). Your note is waiting for them the next time they’re home. You can leave one note per apartment per hour. Keep it kind: notes follow the community rules.
Your Guestbook
Click Guestbook at home to read the notes people left you. A badge shows how many are new. If you’ve been out a while and your place is furnished, you might come home to a few notes from the neighbors.
Open House
Click Open House at home to open your door. The button switches to Open House: ON.
- Anyone can visit while it’s on, not just friends.
- City locals drop by every so often, look around, and often leave a note and a like.
- Click it again to close the door.
While it’s on, the place name at the top left says Open House, for you and your visitors.
Likes
Visitors can like your place once each. The heart button at home shows your total. It’s the closest thing Club NYC has to a five-star review, minus the complaint about the radiator.
